Pakistani Internet Service Providers crossed one million mark for broadband internet subscribers in the country by totaling 1.052 million broadband subscribers in October 2010, up from 994,911 subscribers in September 2010.
According to recent most stats shared by Pakistan Telecommunication Authority, cellular companies ended November 2010 with 101.641 million subscribers, up from 100.715 million in October 2010. Country’s cellular teledensity reached 61 percent, highest ever in the history.
As the regulator and Government seem pumped up for 3G license auction (latter in 2011), it looks that cellular companies in Pakistan are now looking for ways to escape the expedition. They are lobbying through media to make sure that government/PTA’s campaign for 3G gets hampered.
When will you stop looting this country? Are you not fed up yet? What are you giving us against whatever tax you collect? We don’t have Gas, Electricity, pure water (and yes I am talking about major cities, not the rural country side area). Will you ever spare us from this hefty tax rate?

In a report published by PTA, on SMS traffic trends in local and global markets, says that a total of 151.6385 billion text messages were exchanged by Pakistani cellular subscribers in fiscal year 2009-10, generating revenue of Rs. 40.76 billion.
